Evaluation for design for digital media.

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you applied them?

Within this module I have developed skills mainly in after effects, as I have never used this piece of software before. I feel I have developed valuable skills within this area and especially to be very organized with every file you save. I will remember this for future projects.

2. What approaches to generating work and solutions to problems have you developed and how have they helped?

Within this module I found story boarding most useful for getting my ideas across for what i wanted to create and i feel that this is a valuable skill to have. But story boarding is only the first bit as when it comes to creating the animation on a mac this is where the problems start to arise.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

I feel that creating the storyboards was one of my strengths I preferred to do this than actually animating it on screen.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how could you exploit these more fully?

I feel that my main weakness within this was that I have never designed for animation before and have never used after effects before either. So I found that fairly difficult when creating my animation and I spent a lot of my time trying to learn how to use the software.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

  • be more organized with file sizes and formats so theres no problems when it gets nearer to a deadline.
  • never expect everything to work as technology lets you down so makes sure everything works ahead of a deadline.
  •  when submitting work digitally always scan paper work as your doing them so that there's not problems towards the end.
  • be more organized with everything.
  • check that my storyboards are correct before going on to mac to animate them.

close crawl.

In this little clip I'm trying to create the effect that the character is slowly creeping forward toward the screen. This image technique is similar to how the character moves in the original film.It still needs a bit of adjusting but you kind of get the idea?!?

Adding abit of sound to the chase.

Thinking along the lines of.....

80's Matchbox B-line Disaster - Mister Mental (this one seems to be more suited to a chase scene)
The Blue Wrath - i monster
The Smiths - Panic
The Specials - Ghost Town.

E4 logo exp.

The video above shows an experiment i did using the E4 logo. It just simply moves slowly on to the screen and I'v only used red, white and black in my colour scheme.

But the video below shows the same again but using only a black and red colour scheme (I think I prefer this one)

Hands Up.

The zombie Chase!!!

Here is a test of my idea for a zombie chase sequence. This composition is just simply the frame zooming out to reveal the scenario. For the development of this I need to animate the guy to resemble him running away from the zombies and for the hands to also move to make the zombies look like there running after him.

I have also decided to keep the colour scheme down to shades of red, white and black. For now anyways.

testing out my idea...

This is one of my ideas that i have taken in to after effects. What i was going for was to show the character as if she was coming out of the TV screen imitating what happens in the movie. This is quite a simple way of showing this so i feel more work is needed to give this sequence a better effect.

Friday the 13th.

The new trailer for the new friday the 13th movie contains a great count down sequence. I like how the numbers just appear for about half a second and with the added sound creates a really jumpy effect. This count down appears at about 1:37.

Pulse.

This is the site for the movie pulse. I don't rate the movie and the site isn't much better either. But it is easy to navigate and the only thing of interest to me is the white noise they use on the site. As this is what the movies about ghosts coming through wi-fi ?!?!?but I'm wanting to use the white noise sounds and graphics within my animation.well more like the ring when the character comes out of the TV, but this is similar stuff...

zombieee

This is the vector image I created to eventually get animated. Hopefully this will include some kind of chase sequence to make it look like he is running away from the zombieee hands.

White noise!!!

The above images are stills from the ring website. Before you enter the site it plays an intro which contains these images.Im thinking of including white noise to my animation.

The video below is a clip from the film:

Shaun of the dead website.

The image above is of the homepage which is really interactive and as you move the cursor around the page, it moves with you to reveal new options. I feel that the limited colour scheme that they have used works really well.

The image below is a still from the intro that is played before entering the site, which gives you a snip it of what the movies about.

I like the simplified graphics that they have used to portray the character of shaun, not too much detail on the face and using quite a limited colour scheme. This is similar to what I was wanting to created for my animation.

web site designs.

These images above are from the 'The Ring' movie website. While it loads hair moves down the page to eventually create a black blank screen. Then it plays the trailer with out you clicking on anything so it makes you jump because it just appears on a black screen and with no warning. I like the use of that and i may include that sort of thing in my animation. After the trailer is then played the home page appears which looks like this:

The home page on this website is very interactive and all the icons move when the cursor is rolled over the image.Sound is also very effective on the site creating a sort of scary atmosphere.

Audi - card board car advert.

This is an awesome advert i love the music that they used for it and the lil guy that creates the cardboard car is brill. My favorite bit is when he's bending the wing mirrors in to shape and then it zooms in on the mirror bit; where you can then see the characters reflection as if he was sat in the drivers seat.lovely stuff.

First attempt at iweb.

This is my first attempt at using iweb and here is a simple layout I designed. But for my actual iweb design I think I'm going to create a splash page before, with some kind of image as the enter hyperlink.

Dead Set - E4

I really like how the E4 logo appears in this ident as it just appears and then zooms in on it slowly. I also think that the colour used is really effective. Maybe this is something to consider when im creating my animation.

BBC 2 horror ident

It has links to different horror movies which are shown as short clips then at the end the BBC 2 logo pops up out of the ground resembling a clip from a zombie movie. It does protray a sense of horror and the limited colour palette helps to emphaises this.

Some more vector images.

Just a few more images I have created to possibly use later on in the project?!?

Ray Frenden.

Voorhee's a jolly good fella: I like Frenden's take on the character jason and the nice use of line within his work. Frenden specialises in all things horror and produces t-shirt designs using some of them. The image below was one of his t-shirt designs:
